Waterloo

In the series: “If they did not make the history, they contributed to it”, this time we found a CANIVET in the battle of Waterloo. In : “Waterloo, lieu de mémoire européenne. Histoire et controverses. Académia Bruylant.” Pierre COUVREUR tells in “Des Belges à Waterloo” that many compatriots distinguished themselves at the attack of 1st corps. … … at the 4th infantry, captain CANIVET from Mons is fighting … … …, we can easily deduce that nearly all the belgian military fighting with the french military were volunteers. Wouldn’t they have wanted it, they would have gone back home, with demobilization money in their pocket. (Information communicated by Jean CANIVET, Ittre, Belgium.)
